Where were you when the world ended?

When the truth broke into pieces
And we each picked a few we liked
Then used them as weapons
Against our brethren

Where were you when the world ended?

When the plague was spreading
And the doctors pleaded with us
Because people were dying
To be selfish

Where were you when the world ended?

When the cities were cleared
First by fear then by force
Because they kneeled on his neck
Until he died

Where were you when the world ended?

When the insurgents broke windows
And the chambers were cleared
They smiled for their treason
In viking hats

Where were you when the world ended?

When the air raids started
And the subways were packed
With people fleeing by not going anywhere
Just deeper underground

Where were you when the world ended?

When the women cried for mercy
And our bodies were cannibalized
Then stripped for parts
The justices laughed

Were you even watching?
Or did you cover your eyes?

Were you sitting down?
Or were you on your knees?

Did you even try to stand up?
It’s okay if you couldn’t.

These things happen.
Over and over and over again.
