We live in an age
Defining and redefining
Qualities of love in
Quantities of symbols.
Curiosities are found
When sensations abound.

To that end
The love you find
Is more intangible
But visual.
And if left ungrounded
the shock could kill
with a brisk strike
to the soul.

To define it is:
“A love that tastes of air and soft rain,”
to one person, anyway, may be defined,
“The hum of a million chorales,” or
even, if it is believed as such,
“A string, tied, across two hearts
drawing them to one another
despite all odds and circumstances.”

But
The New Love is much like
The Old Love. Still fragile,
Digital Worlds Crumble upon
Scrutiny—
and miscommunications
are larger than mere typographical
errors.

In the world of The New Love
We all rise and fall into shadows.
In this brave song above
We taste the thirst of silk vows.
In this wild, curious land
We find ourselves reverent;
Cell phones in hand
To each other we make our covenant.
