Each week, we issue a writing prompt to our own staff, guest contributors, and readers like you. We welcome guest submissions, so if you’re interested in being featured or regularly contributing to the site, email your responses to kelaine.conochan [at] thepromptmag.com.

#WorthTheWait

They say patience is a virtue. But they also say the early bird gets the worm. And maybe this nameless, faceless “they” have got a point.

Because some things require hustle, and other things are worth the wait. So what’s the difference? That’s what we want to hear from you with this week’s writing prompt.

Sometimes, it feels like you’re waiting and waiting for something that will never come. It feels like agony. For crying out loud, when is this going to happen?

Sometimes waiting for what you want feels like the most soul-crushing ennui. It feels like the world stands still. BORRRRRRINNNNNGGGGG.

And sometimes, people are waiting for you to do something extraordinary. Like write your first piece for The Prompt. You’re ready, aren’t you? We sure think so.

So what are you waiting for? If you’re inspired to write for us, we want to read your original 400-700 word response to the #WorthTheWait prompt. It can be a personal essay, short story, poem, op-ed, or video. As always, we’ll publish the very best.

Go ahead, take the bull by the horns. Send us your submission.
