Each week, we issue a writing prompt to our own staff, guest contributors, and readers like you. We welcome guest submissions, so if you’re interested in being featured or regularly contributing to the site, email your responses to kelaine.conochan [at] thepromptmag.com.

Pack your bags, you’re heading on an trip. It’s not the open road, not the friendly skies, and not the deep blue sea. This time, you’re heading down the wrought iron tracks. But this week, your story starts before you hop on the choo-choo.

Perhaps it’s a commuter rail or subway. Maybe this is the seemingly mundane train station before your main character goes to work, now aglow with opportunity and excitement.

Or perhaps it’s a long distance journey. In a larger station where strangers come and go, but to where? Everyone on the precipice of adventure. Everyone hustling and bustling with their coffees and roller bags. And the luxury of not having to clear TSA.

All aboard!
