I propose that we open up the gates,

allow the children to wade into the

polar bear pool,

ring the constrictor coils

around their arms like scaly brown thread spools,

sew the experience into their soft

woolen memories.

The world’s a petting

zoo only afforded at the extremes

of economy,

the middle we not

able to be on as intimate terms

with the remaining native kingdom alone,

let us give thanks to the lord,

our species.

It is right to give him thanks and solid

conservation efforts,

for God doesn’t

give with both hands,

but man takes anyway.
