POETRY: Family Man

Here you have it,
All laid out,
My story in a nutshell,
The yellow house
White picket fence
Three kids, four cars
Wife and a dog,
Flowers, no money
In the bank, but
Visions of it…
And another couple
Of houses dancing
On the head of a pin,
Jewelry on the list,
a picture here
a photo there,
but no space
on the wall,
no place
for it all.

What a plan,
Making much
of living
out of boxes.
