pine tree is Evergreen

Some of them are

Any green

And some of them are

Emerald green

And some of them are

gutted within, no pine needles to be seen

And also

Knot every bark

Is worth its bite

And not every bark

Has bite—some of it is

Parchment-like, a simply

As though you could rip it from the

Tree’s surface and write on it (and maybe you do)

And yet

Every

Pine

Knows that

Its       roots

Run     well beyond what

We     see       from      up on the

Of     subtle     roots    reach  ing   in     every     direction
