Each week, we issue a writing prompt to our own staff, guest contributors, and readers like you. We welcome guest submissions, so if you’re interested in being featured or regularly contributing to the site, email your responses to kelaine.conochan [at] thepromptmag.com.

Parents. Can’t live with ‘em (after turning 30). Can’t be born without ‘em.

Whether they brought us into this world, raised us, or both, those chumps earned a permanent and special place in our hearts. And now, it’s our distinct pleasure to honor them with a very special prompt week.

This week’s prompt: WEIRD PARENTS.

Oh yes. Not just any parents. We want to read your best, most creative ideas centering on the old weirdos whose neuroses, oddities, and habits drove you nuts or made you who you are. Are your parents too normal? Well then come on over and make up your very own fictional weird parents story.

As always, we’re looking for fresh ideas and new voices to add to our creative community. So draft up 400-700 words using Weird Parents as the prompt and send them our way. It can be a personal essay, a poem, short story, script, satirical post, or anything else original.

Just make it worth our while and we’ll publish your piece, include it in our newsletter, and give you the chance to join the creative, talented staff writers here at The Prompt.

Email your responses to kelaine.conochan@thepromptmag.com by Sunday, September 23rd at midnight EST.
