Each week, we issue a writing prompt to our own staff, guest contributors, and readers like you. We welcome guest submissions, so if you’re interested in being featured or regularly contributing to the site, email your responses to kelaine.conochan [at] thepromptmag.com.

Orange you glad I didn’t say banana?

For real though. Everyone loves a good knock-knock joke. And by “everyone,” I mean 13 year-olds who also like performing magic tricks.

It’s the sound of someone’s arrival. The sound of your heart banging around inside your chest. The thing you when you get to heaven’s door. And it’s also this week’s writing prompt.

This Week’s Writing Prompt: KNOCK, KNOCK.

Got any jokes? Got any stories? Got any great ideas stemming from KNOCK, KNOCK?

Great. Because we’ve already opened the door and are letting you inside the castle. All you need as the price of admission is 400-700 words and a story worth telling.

Send us anything that comes to mind when you think of KNOCK, KNOCK. It can be a personal essay, a poem, short story, script, or anything else original and fresh. Just make it worth our while and we’ll publish it, include it in our newsletter, and give you the chance to join the creative, talented staff writers here at The Prompt.

Email your responses to kelaine.conochan@thepromptmag.com by Sunday, April 1st at midnight EST.
