Each week, we issue a writing prompt to our own staff, guest contributors, and readers like you. We welcome guest submissions, so if you’re interested in being featured or regularly contributing to the site, email your responses to kelaine.conochan [at] thepromptmag.com.

Picked over. Passed by. Forgotten. Left out. Totally and completely underrated.

This week’s prompt is based on an expression that refers to anyone who always plays second fiddle. Who never gets center stage. The poor, unfortunate souls whose talents, looks, and personality get totally overlooked for some stunning lady in white. Sigh.

But now’s your time to show the world they shoulda put a ring on it.

This Week’s Writing Prompt: Always A Bridesmaid

Well, why wait around for that fairy tale to come true? WRITE YOUR OWN DAMN STORY!

Even if no one else thinks you’re pretty, we at The Prompt are here for you. Even when everyone is showering that beautiful bridezilla with the attention she DEMANDS but doesn’t necessarily deserve. We know all the gifts you offer the world, and we see you for who you are. A WRITER.

So, step into the spotlight. We want to read whatever comes to your beautiful mind when you hear ALWAYS A BRIDESMAID as our writing prompt.

So, send us your submission of 400-700 words. It can be a personal essay, a poem, short story, script, or anything else original and fresh. Just make it worth our while and we’ll publish it, include it in our newsletter, and give you the chance to join the creative, talented staff writers here at The Prompt.

We think you’re dreamy. We know someday you’re going to make someone VERY happy. But until then, you just need to put yourself out there. Always a bridesmaid? Tell that to these single ladies!

Email your responses to kelaine.conochan@thepromptmag.com by Sunday, December 17th at midnight EST.
